Oil Painting Workshop: Sunflowers by Vincent van Gogh (1888)
Step into the radiant world of Vincent van Gogh and reimagine one of his earliest sunflower masterpieces. In this three-session oil painting workshop, we will recreate Sunflowers (1888), the first of his famous sunflower series, painted in Arles, distinctive for its vibrant turquoise-blue background and expressive texture.
This version features twelve sunflowers, each in a different state of bloom or decay, symbolizing the beauty and impermanence of life. Through Van Gogh’s signature brushwork, layered colors, and dynamic composition, you’ll explore how to infuse personality and movement into your own painting.
Sunflower Oil Painting Workshop (3 Sessions)
• Van Gogh’s floral composition and symbolism behind the twelve sunflowers
• How to layer oil paint for texture and richness
• Mixing yellows, ochres, and turquoise for a vibrant yet balanced palette
• Using expressive brushwork and visible strokes to bring the flowers to life
Participants are required to self-collect their painting in the studio one week after it has been left in the studio to fully dry. Due to limited storage space, collection will need to be done within one month from the workshop date. Any artworks left longer than that will be discarded.
