Participants are required to self-collect their painting in the studio one week after it has been left in the studio to fully dry. Due to limited storage space, collection will need to be done within one month from the workshop date. Any artworks left longer than that will be discarded.

• This class is suitable for beginners or those with little or no experience
   
• Humans that are 15 years and above in 2024 (Secondary 1 and above).

Laura Quek is a passionate artist who immerses herself in the realms of music and arts. Drawing inspiration from the harmonies and rhythms of music, she skillfully translates the emotions and reflections it stirs within her into captivating paintings. Every brushstroke and every note she plays on the piano bears the weight of this deep connection she shares with these expressive art forms.  To her, a world without music and painting is simply unimaginable - like a canvas without colour or a melody without soul.

1. What is the difference between acrylic paints and oil paints?

• Acrylic: If you enjoy quick projects, easy cleanup, and versatility, acrylics might be your go-to. They also have a fast drying time.

• Oil: If you like taking your time, blending colours, and wanting a classic look, oils could be your best friend. However, they take about a week to dry fully.

 

2. What's the difference between a workshop and an oil painting experience?

• For the workshop: The instructor will provide step-by-step guidance and help you complete the artwork at a suitable pace.  The image is based on the workshop you chose for teaching purposes
   
• For the Oil Painting Experience: you are free to choose any image from our references. The instructor will tailor their guidance according to your learning pace.

 

3. What if I can’t finish my artwork during the session?

• Most of our participants managed to finish their paintings during our sessions! However, if you cannot finish, feel free to bring your artwork home and continue painting independently. Otherwise, you may also like to book a guided or unguided art jamming session to complete your piece at our studio!

 

4. Can I bring my own images instead of using the reference image in the studio?

• Yes, you may show the image to our instructor; he/she will advise you. However, please note that you might not finish within one session. Some images will take a few sessions to complete.

 

5. I'm too busy to pick up the artwork after a week. Can I take the painting home on the same day?

• At your own risk, as the painting might smear. We don't have a box to container, only a hand carrier. If you're driving, lay them flat in the car boot, or hold them flat like a pizza if you're using other transportation.
