Raymond Li is a self-taught artist who specializes in portraits, gestures, scenery, and outdoor sketching, using watercolor as his primary medium. His artistic journey began in 2017, when he first explored watercolor techniques at NAFA under the guidance of Mr. Loy Chye Chuan. He later honed his skills through mentorship with Mr. Ong Kim Seng and further expanded his expertise by attending a workshop with Joseph Zbukvic in New Zealand in March 2023.
Passionate about sharing the joy of art, Raymond believes creativity is not limited to a select few—it is a learnable skill anyone can embrace. He is dedicated to making art more accessible, fostering appreciation, and building a supportive creative community. With this vision, he founded the Art Appreciation Club in 2017, a private art group that welcomes individuals from all backgrounds, regardless of age, nationality, skill level, or artistic style. The club hosts monthly gatherings where members share their work, engage in discussions, and learn from guest speakers on various art topics.
In December 2023, the Art Appreciation Club organized a joint exhibition at The Arts House, From Invisible to Visible. The event featured 60 paintings by 20 international artists, highlighting the diverse perspectives and expressions within the community.
Through teaching, art jams, and group outdoor painting sessions, Raymond continues to inspire others to explore their creativity, believing that a world where more people appreciate and enjoy art is a more beautiful and enriching.
